Last Thursday I hosted our ward's book club. We read Nobody Don't Love Nobody by Stacey Bess, who was my student teaching supervisor two years ago. Stacey was nice enough to come all the way out to our neighborhood and talk with us for an hour. I think everyone really felt inspired by her book and the things she had to say that night. I'm glad we could have such a great turnout.
Justin recently celebrated his 30th birthday! He's not too thrilled that he's getting so "old." But he did love all the cards and phone calls from family. We gave him a new belt and a locator system so he won't lose his wallet, keys, etc. His mom gave him SimCity for the Wii. He's been having fun with that. After we ate dinner, I took Justin to Cold Stone for his free ice cream. As we were walking in, Amber and John were walking toward the door too. Then in line were Jen and Kyle. After a minute or two, two other couples (both Anderson families) we know walked in. Finally I told him that I'd invited all our friends to join us for ice cream. He was pretty surprised. Rob and Lacey came too! Thanks to all of you who came to celebrate with us. I know it was short notice but I think it made his birthday a little more exciting.
Nolan had a wonderful Sacrament meeting yesterday. He crawled under the bench to the family behind us and they were nice enough to give him free reign with their washable (thank goodness!) markers. He colored his arms, hands, neck, mouth, and even his clothes! He's our little tattoo artist! Sis. Broadhead kept apologizing but Justin and I couldn't help but laugh. I'm not really the type of mom that gets worried about these things. In fact, it was the most pleasant sacrament meeting we've had in a long time! Except that I had to sing with the Young Women. I guess you can't win them all! Anyway, Nolan had a great tub after the meeting... the water even turned blue! I think next week we'll bring some of our own markers (or maybe just crayons).

Neil just turned 30 this month also, I didn't know our husbands were the same age! Sacrament meetings are so dang hard with little kids, I can't remember the last time I was able to listen to one (one day we will probably look back and miss the noisy little turkeys!)
Those are super cute pictures of Nolan. Of course, he is always cute, but maybe not so colorful! We've been having the worst sacrament meetings with Cora the last few weeks since the ward time change, I envy you your peaceful hour...
The Color Wonders are a little pricey, but o-so-nice that the markers only color on the books and NOTHING else. Maybe for Christmas???
Happy late Birthday Justin, You are "OLD", but I guess that if you are old, then I am too because I am older than you.
ahh Nolan! What a cutie! Happy Birthday Justin!
That was a great book club. Thanks for putting it together. You must have loved your student teaching (ha).
Sounds like a fun Birthday. Woooo, that's gettin' up there.
Happy Birthday Justin. Danny turns 30 in a little over a year. He's not too excited either. Nolan looks like he is a little trouble maker, but he is sure cute!
Happy Birthday Justin. Sorry we weren't able to make it to cold stone...I got the email too late!! It was just one of those days. We really wanted to be there, so next time for sure. Thanks again for putting together that wonderful book club. It was so neat to be able to visit with Stacy. She is amazing. Sounds like you need to have Nolan sit with the Broadheads every week!!:)
Book Club was awesome! I'm so glad you were able to get Stacey there to speak to us. And what a good wife to invite us all to Cold Stone for Justin's 30th. It was fun! I saw something on Nolan's face after church, from a far. That is hilarious! Looks like the Broadheads are going to be popular in sacrament meeting with the little kids now! :)
It sounds like Justin had a good birthday! I tried to call, but it sounds like he had a busy day. You'll have to tell me more about that locator system you got him, Kenz! I need to get Rich something like that! Nolan is such a cutie! I can't get over how different he is from Rocky. I've been trying to get him to finger paint (we have this cool set-up) but he hates getting his hands dirty. We hope Jack is a little more adventurous!
Dang...could that kid get any cuter? I love the marker face...looks like he is pretty happy with himself too!
Sounds like Justin had a fun B-day.
Hope you have a great birthday too Kenz!!!!
