I'm the secretary in Young Womens (the best calling!) and we just held our Evening of Excellence. It turned out so great! It was a fancy Oscar night complete with a red carpet for each of the young women to walk down with her Dad while Moms and leaders took pictures (the paparazzi). The awards portion was so fun because our MC had a tux and had a great sense of humor just like a real awards show host. The girls each came up to receive an award that their parents had written ahead of time, and we gave them a little heart trophy. Then most of the girls gave a little "acceptance speech" about what they had worked on this year in personal progress. Our speaker talked about things of real worth and her husband even wrote a song and sang it for us. It couldn't have been a better night. Well, I guess it would have been better if our powerpoint presentation would have worked. I had slaved making sure we had a picture of each of the girls and then another leader made the slideshow. We were going to display a picture with their name on it as they stood up to receive their award. I guess that's our fault for trying to be tech savvy. I think all of us leaders had even more fun than the girls in our formal dresses. It's pretty rare!

It turned out to be such a great evening for the girls (even without the powerpoint presentation). :) And, it was so much fun to dress up! I have a picture I took of the cupcakes that I'll have to send you.
What a fun idea. You ladies looked fabulous!
I wish I would have been there to see you all. I heard from the girls how much they loved last night!
Kenz...you really do look like a movie star...you look gorgeous!!!! Sounds like it all turned out great... I love that idea!
