Surgery for Ezra

Ezra has always been a noisy sleeper. He was always snoring and tossing and turning. Sometimes he would sound like he stopped breathing and then had to move around before catching his breath. At the age of 5, he was still taking a 2 or 3 hour nap almost every day. A visit to his doctor, and then a visit with an Ear Nose Throat doctor, and it was decided that his tonsils and adenoids needed to be removed. They were large and making it difficult for him to rest soundly. He said it would likely help his lack of appetite, dark circles under his eyes, low weight, and grumpy disposition.

Ezra seemed a little worried about the surgery but he did great. Justin took him to the hospital and said that Ezra was so brave. They wheeled him off in a little red wagon and he was all smiles. At one during the surgery or soon after, Ezra stopped breathing. They revived him and then gave him oxygen for a while after. He wasn't too happy when he woke up but the popsicles sure helped out.
He had a quick recovery at home because the procedure didn't make any scabs in his throat. By day 3, he was eating tacos! He was still on medication, of course, but he was doing great.
Now, two months later, he sleeps soundly and rarely takes naps. We were hoping that his appetite would really increase, but he still eats next to nothing at breakfast. Other meals might be better, but not much. Justin asked Ezra what his favorite thing was that they had done together and he answered, "going to the hospital for surgery." Nice to know he wasn't traumatized!

And at the end of the month, Lucy tried out her first pair of pigtails. Cute!
