I'm having one of those days that makes me feel worn out. Recently at aerobics, Nolan has been able to open the gym doors and escape. This wouldn't be too bad in itself (churches are pretty kid-proof usually) but then he tries to find any possible way to get outside. Last week, he snuck out and I couldn't even find him. This was the first time and I didn't even know he could push the doors open. After searching the building, I finally found him watching a man fixing the drinking fountain. On Monday, I actually saw him slip out so I immediately went after him. Within 10 seconds he had run out the kitchen side door to the parking lot! I don't know why the door was unlocked (if the church doors are locked then he can't reach the bar to push it in). Today I tried to go to aerobics again and he went up on the stage to play with the other tots. I thought this was a pretty good way to keep him contained. Next thing I know, Sienna (my friend's 4-yr. old) is telling me to come quick. There was some back door on the other side and down some steps that I didn't know existed! I caught him as he was slipping out. Needless to say, we left early and I hate to say it, but I don't think I'll be able to come for a while until he stops being an escape artist! Here we are at aerobics. We set the camera timer and, of course, Nolan wandered into the picture. Me, Holly, Jen, Tracy, Kirsten, and Amber.
We just got home from having lunch at McDonald's. Our ward just divided so the Young Women's presidency was all split up (I was the only one left in our ward, so technically I've been released too). We went for one last get-together and figured McDonald's would keep the kiddos happy. Over the course of 50 minutes, Nolan escaped the play area 5 times. One of those times he ran straight into a man's lap - a complete stranger! He stole someone's drink and was walking around with it. He got lost in the playplace so I had to climb up there and rescue him (this was expected but still tiresome). He stole a chicken nugget from a table nearby, and eventually stole an ice cream cone from a table across the way! These things are embarrassing and possibly unsanitary. And I know what you're thinking: Kenzee, start keeping an eye on your child! All I'm going to say is: I do! Just look at the mischief in his eyes!
I wish he'd do this more often!

I'm sorry you're having such a frustrating day! We'll miss you at aerobics if you don't come anymore, hopefully you can at least come on Friday's and leave Nolan home with Justin.
I'm so sorry!! I really hope it gets better. Too bad you can't use your kid leash to solve this one!
Wow, that is quite the impressive list of escape accomplishments! Nolan must be apprenticing with Houdini! Good luck with all that-- it sounds frustrating, but at least he is o-so-cute!
Oh, and we are pretty bummed about the ward split (and splitting us out!), and will miss you too! Oh well, what can you do? Hopefully I'll be back at aerobics next week and that will help!
GIrl...it's just starting! As a mom to a very active 6 yr old boy, I can't tell you how many times I thought strangers were thinking, "why doesn't she watch her child". Word of advice...don't worry about other people! Also, we got Carson an ID braclet (mostly because of his speech disability, but also because he was an escape artist). We had his name, our address and phone number on it. And...it didn't come off (until it broke...but they usually lasted about a year). Here's a website for them - they were well worth the $11 (total...including shipping) http://www.childidbracelets.com/
oh my gosh - that was hilarious. Well, not if your sitting on your side, but funny enough to read.
It's a good thing we see those sweet sleeping faces every night....I LOVE seeing them sleep. It reminds me that the hard day I had with them is all worth it.
I would really LOVE it if you would leave him with me and then I get to go exercise at a different time than at night.
Luvs!
Oh Kenz....Now you know what my life has been like for the the past 15 years. Now just imagine having 3 active boys like me! If Nolan wasn't so dang cute what would you do??? I
he he** all i have to say is that he is totally normal- just be glad he doesn't have another brother to cause ruckis with- I totally remember this escaping phase- I was constantly worried- but it's over now, so look forward! Boys are just crazy- that's the bottom line.
Goodness! I never had a problem with that age. Just wait until he turns 4. 4 has been Melody's worst, but they are all different. Good Luck!
Oh Kenz, I'm so sorry. Pretty funny stories though. What a little stinker. He is a cutie though...especially when he is asleep!!!
Well, I wish I could say I am sorry for you, but it is just too funny!. As crazy as you think it gets some days, you are so lucky to be there even when you don't think you can make it another day. Another CRAZY- FANNY day!
I know how you feel, I have lost Ali more than once and its a freaky feeling I hate! I always am keeping my eye on her! But Nolan makes the cutest run-a-way I have ever seen! ;)
Kenzee, I am so sorry! What a rough day that little stinker gave you! But...you do not need to stop coming to aerobics...we will block the doors with tables and do all we can to keep you there! So don't even think about giving up, cause we aren't! :) Keep your chin up, you are a great mom!
I love your stories. And don't worry I don't think you're a bad mom:) Kids are such and adventure. By the way Ashlee has been out for a year now. She is in England. I'm almost positive it's the Manchester mission.
I'm sorry he's testing you to the LIMIT! It's gets better, I promise. Who couln't love that face. He's just trying to explore the world the way he wants to : ).
I absolutely feel your pain. This is how I feel just about every time I try to take Gene anywhere by myself. Gotta love little boys!
