It had been a long time since we've had a family vacation (other than visiting family) so we were really excited to head to Portland, Oregon. We left the day after school got out. The boys were especially excited to be able to fly for the first time. Well, Nolan flew as a baby but didn't remember it. I felt a little nervous about flying and getting all the car seats, strollers, and luggage there (not to mention keeping track of 3 kids) but it worked out great. Lucy even got her own seat because the flight wasn't full. Since our trip was over a month ago, I'll have to rely on my "trip journal" notes.
We were excited to see our nice rental car that was only costing us about 60 bucks for the entire week (thanks to Justin's business travel). Our luggage barely fit in the GMC Terrain though. Whew! First we drove downtown to the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). Justin dropped Nolan, Lucy, and me off and then went to the hotel to unload (Ez was asleep in the car). Talk about a great museum! Even Lucy had a really good time crawling around in the baby area. Justin and Ez met up with us and then the 3 boys went on the USS Blueback submarine tour. I only wish we had better pictures. We were using our phones and they turned out pretty blurry.
The boys were pretty exhausted after all the excitement at the museum.
We thought we'd go to the night time Rose Parade downtown, but the city was packed and we didn't know where we'd find a seat. So we decided to have a yummy dinner at McMenamins (oh that macaroni and cheese!) and then head to the hotel. We had a good swim and Lucy was such a good girl to go right to sleep in the hotel's pack 'n play.
